This beach maternity photography session was over at Anderby Creek. A little trek out from the usual spot I shoot at on Cleethorpes beach but boy its worth it. Anderby Creek is quieter and more picturesque.
Abbi got in touch about a maternity session and I immediately knew this shoot would be a special one. My other half, Henry, photographed Abbi and Tom’s wedding a few years ago in Cornwall. What a wedding it was too. I was stoked they asked me to capture these moments for them. Abbi sent me a few outfit ideas and some shots she’d seen on pinterest and said she’d like to get into the water. I mean, I was onboard before, but now I was SUPER excited!
For sunset sessions like this, we usually book an evening and then the week of the shoot we all try to leave a many evenings free incase we needed to change. This was shot in March believe it or not. We aimed for a Saturday evening but the weather and tide suited us better on the Tuesday so we went for it. We were so lucky, as although it was a chilly 19 degrees on the beach, the weather in the following weeks and months have been terrible.
Abbi and Tom were amazing and so chilled. I shoot very natural but I do offer some direction. It could be, “place your hand here”, “walk this way”, “look this way” and in this case, “kick some water at Tom”. It made for some giggles and retaliation from Tom haha.
Abbi was very brave getting into the water. Although the sunset was perfect, it was around 16/17 degrees and the water on the North East Coast is FREEZING! So it took her breath away. I’m sure she’ll agree that it was worth it.
If you’d like a beach maternity photography session whether its at sunset or not please do get in touch. I love them so much!
